Barcelona

Montserrat Monestery and day 2

We travelled by train to Monserrat Monestery. It is located in the mountains about 1 hour west of Barcelona. Once there we travelled by an aerial tram up the mountain to the monastery. It is a very beautiful place. We arrived to church bells resonating thru the mountains and the Monastery complex. While on the mountain we also travelled by funicular (narrow gauge train) up to a hermiage church further up in the mountains. We hiked up about a mile. We returned to the city and had a walk on the Mediterranean Port of Vella, and the beaches. We dined at a small pizzeria and enjoyed a long walk to gelato and taxied to Casa Batllo, one of Gaudi's homes. Then we walked to another of his homes, La Pedrera! We are happy, achy travelers!
